Video: An Inside Look at Trinity Fine Arts Professor’s Exhibit at the Venice Biennale

Since 1895, La Biennale di Venezia—the Venice Biennale—has been the most prestigious and influential showcase of contemporary art in the world, with millions of attendees.

This year, Pablo Delano, the Charles A. Dana Professor of Fine Arts at Trinity College, was among the international artists invited by curator Adriano Pedrosa to present their work in the Central Pavilion. Delano’s multimedia installation, “The Museum of the Old Colony,” focuses on his homeland of Puerto Rico.

Delano was joined in Venice by Amanda Guzmán, assistant professor of anthropology and co-director of Trinity’s Center for Caribbean Studies, along with a contingent of Trinity faculty members and administrators. “I’m feeling exhilarated and uplifted,” Delano said. “The model that you saw in Hartford has been transformed from a small-scale model on a desktop to a full-fledged installation that takes up almost 2,800 square feet.”
