Why did you join the Diversity and Access Team?

I joined DAT because I want to help create a diverse, inclusive environment on campus! By working with incoming students, we can start right from the beginning to admit more students from diverse backgrounds and help create experiences for them to feel comfortable on campus.

What is the biggest lesson you learned from your first semester on campus?

That college is a time to explore and learn about yourself! With liberal arts you really can explore but not just academically, but activities wise. You can get involved, make strides on issues with the people around you.

How has a liberal arts education fostered your thinking?

The liberal arts education has made it possible for me to explore and this exploration has aided me to reflect my morals and truly what I want to work on in the future. Before last semester, I would never thought to do environmental science, I had never even taken a class, but through the liberal arts requirements I’ve found a love for this subject!

What legacy do you hope to leave?

From a legacy perspective, I would love to leave knowing I thrived on campus and helped others join a community that made them feel safe, creative, confident and that I am helping create a better community.

How has the city of Hartford impacted your college experience?

Hartford itself deserves more from us, it’s a beautiful place and the community in Trinity should be grateful and become more linked towards the people around us. Hartford was the first place of volunteering in the US for me. I hope all students continue this journey and bring us to be more connected.

What areas of campus make you feel at home?

The areas on campus which feel most like home are where students are together, for me this is the Underground! Or on a bingo night, in the Cave when students come together for fun. Or a personal favourite is the Washington room whenever there is an event on!
