Why did you join the Diversity and Access Team?

When I was applying to college, I wish I had known about the DAT team and the programs they offer. The support we provide for various students is incredible. As a first-generation Latina, I know I wanted to aid in supporting students similar to me. With that, I would also love to meet new people and learn about the community interested in attending Trinity. As a DAT intern, I’m excited to work alongside the admissions team to foster a unique and inclusive community at Trinity.

What is the biggest lesson you learned from your first semester on campus?

The biggest lesson I learned from my first semester on campus was that taking time for yourself is very important. The work will always be there. Taking care of both your physical and mental health is key!

How has a liberal arts education fostered your thinking?

If I attended any other non-liberal arts school as a chemistry major, I wouldn’t have been able to experience classes like Forensic Psychology, and Anthropology of Religion! Having a liberal arts education has allowed me to work towards my degree in chemistry while enrolling in classes that interest me. This liberal arts education allowed me to have a holistic experience at Trinity!

What legacy do you hope to leave?

I hope to leave a legacy as a student who created a welcoming environment. I want to lift people up and help motivate my peers, as well as be someone my fellow interns and friends can rely on. The best thing for a college student is someone they can talk to!

How has the city of Hartford impacted your college experience?

Trinity’s relationship with Hartford has allowed me to not only attend school here but also engage with the community! As a member of La Voz Latina, I was able to visit the Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy and discuss my experience at Trinity with high school students!

What areas of campus make you feel at home?

One area on campus that feels like home to me is the Underground! This student-run coffee house has its doors open to everyone on campus. It’s a hub that allows for studying but is also used for numerous events on campus.
