  • Discover the magic of animation in The Science Behind Pixar, an interactive exhibition at the Connecticut Science Center. With over 50 hands-on activities, explore the STEM concepts behind Pixar’s groundbreaking films, from character design to final rendering. Get up close with life-size re-creations of Buzz Lightyear, WALL•E, and more in this behind-the-scenes look at the artistry and technology of animation.
• Concert: Music in the Galleries with Brandon López | 1:30 p.m. | Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art
  • New York City-based double bassist and composer Brandon López presents an informal concert in conjunction with the exhibition Steffani Jemison / MATRIX 196. Join us after the performance for the Artist Conversation with Steffani Jemison and Jared Quinton, Emily Hall Tremaine Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the Wadsworth. Free.

  • Real Art Ways presents Distant Bystander—a solo show by Priya N. Green, the art equivalent of scrolling through your social feed while avoiding eye contact with your family. In a world where screens connect and isolate, Green’s paintings capture the chaos of protests, crowds, and news cycles, all while asking, “Why is everything so loud and yet I feel so alone?” Like a modern-day Mona Lisa with Wi-Fi, her art pulls viewers into the swirl of agitated, yet strangely distant, reality.
• Shadows Taller Than Our Souls: a solo exhibition by Christa Whitten | 2:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. | Real Art Ways
  • Real Art Ways presents Shadows Taller Than Our Souls by Christa Whitten, where cairns—those mystical rock stacks—become a metaphor for life’s waypoints. Through vibrant paper sculptures and two-dimensional works, Whitten channels the wisdom of these stone markers, offering a guide to navigating life’s foggy moments.
• Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Masterworks Series: Eroica & Four Seasons | 8:00 p.m. | The Bushnell
  • Under the direction of music director Carolyn Kuan, the HSO performs Beethoven’s third symphony (the “Eroica”) and there’s nothing quite like it. In fact, the fourth movement is one of the pieces that drew Maestro Kuan to conducting—the ending chorale is so simply gorgeous… “It feels like a glimpse of heaven, or of hope… all that is good in the world. Sharing this music is what makes being a conductor so special.”
