Churchs: 

  • First Church of Christ in Hartford/Center Church – This is the oldest and still active Christian community in the City of Hartford. Since its founding by the Rev. Thomas Hooker, who established the city in 1636, there has always been a “Center Church” on Hartford’s Main Street.
  • Faith Congregational Church: Originally Talcott Street Church, this is one of the oldest Black churches in Hartford.
  • St. Patrick – St. Anthony Church – Oldest Roman Catholic Parish in CT
  • St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral – one of the only Greek Orthodox churches in Hartford, this church values community and hosts the annual Greek Festival in Hartford

Mosques

  • Muhammad Islamic Center of Greater Hartford – one of the oldest mosques in CT and the first mosque in Hartford. Hartford was chosen by the late Honorable Elijah Muhammad and coordinated by the late Al-Hajj Malik Shabazz (Malcolm X) to be the center point for the start of Islam in Connecticut.
