Publicity, Copyright, and Photographs
The Office of Communications and Marketing routinely provides information to news organizations about Trinity students’ academic and extracurricular accomplishments, athletic achievements, and graduation. On occasion, the College supplies photographs and other visual images of students, usually accompanied by brief descriptive text, in response to requests from news organizations. Any student who does not wish to be mentioned in news releases or to be identified in photos used for these purposes must notify the Communications Office at 860-297-2140 immediately upon registration. Parents who may have objections relating to such news releases or photography also should contact the office. Questions on matters relating to publicity about athletics should be directed to Assistant Athletic Director/Communications Chris Kendrick at [email protected] or 860-297-2137.
As a regular practice, photographs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus are used in publications produced by Trinity for recruitment and general-information purposes. It should be noted that, with respect to the use of photographs of groups of students (appearing in scenes, at events, or in classes in session, etc.), it is the College’s policy and practice to use such group images without permission or restraints. All images are property of Trinity College and may not be reproduced in any form, printed or electronic, in any medium, including the internet, without express written permission of Trinity College. (Additional information on fair use and copyright is available on the Trinity College main library site.)
With regard to the publication of directory information about current students or alumni of Trinity, the College intends to comply fully with all provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). More information on FERPA is available at the Dean of Students website.
