Section 1: Need Support?

When you feel that you are encountering barriers in the classroom, please contact the Student Accessibility and Resource Center at [email protected] to schedule a meeting with the Director to discuss your concerns and potential next steps.

Section 2: Seeking ADHD or Learning Evaluations?

If you are seeking testing and evaluation for ADHD or other learning-related concerns, you may discuss this with your primary care provider or consider scheduling a consultation with a professional trained in making such a diagnosis. Check with your insurance provider for a list of preferred professionals or try these resources.

Section 3: Insurance & Cost Considerations

Please be aware that evaluations typically incur out-of-pocket expenses. Check with your insurance provider for the following information prior to your specialist appointment:

  • Confirm your specialist is in-network, for the most cost savings
  • Inquire about expected out-of-pocket expenses at the time of your appointment
  • Request preferred CPT codes for procedures, if applicable, to provide to your specialist for insurance claims processing. This code directly affects how much you will pay for the medical care that you receive. It is adjustable retroactively, as well.

Section 4: Preparing for Your Appointment

Once your appointment is scheduled:

  • Monitor your Trinity College mailbox or email for any forms your specialist may want completed prior to your visit.
  • Plan your arrival to be 15 minutes earlier than your appointment time.

Always bring the following to appointments:

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card
  • Copay/ method of payment (if applicable)

Section 5: After Your Appointment

After your appointment, be sure to monitor your Trinity College mailbox or email for the following:

  • An Explanation of Benefits (EOB); this is a letter that helps you understand how much your health plan covers, and what you’ll pay when you get a bill from your provider. This letter arrives before you receive a bill and is not a bill.
  • Several months after your appointment, you will receive a Billing Invoice. This is your bill, and as with all bills, review this to ensure the information is correct prior to submitting payment. Specifically note that your insurance has been applied.
  • If you note that insurance was not applied or have any concerns regarding potential costs, please discuss with the specialist office expectations for payment and payment plan options.

Section 6: Tips for a Smooth Process

  • If you are looking for a nearer appointment date, ask to be placed on a cancellation list!
  • If you find a different office to complete your referral, have a scheduling conflict or decide you no longer wish to keep your appointment, always call and cancel at least 48 hours in advance, as many offices charge a ‘no show’ fee.
