Password Managers
The following password managers are officially supported and recommended for use by the college. These tools have been carefully chosen and endorsed to ensure the security and confidentiality of user credentials.
Using strong, unique passwords for your online accounts is essential for safeguarding your personal information. However, managing multiple complex passwords can be challenging.
Password managers can simplify this process by securely generating, storing, and managing your account passwords. With a password manager, you only need to remember one master password to access your other unique passwords—eliminating the hassle of tracking each one individually.
Microsoft Authenticator
Initially designed to provide two-factor authentication (2FA) for online accounts, Microsoft Authenticator has since expanded its functionality to include password management across Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. While it performs well as an authentication app, its capabilities are more limited compared to full-featured password managers like LastPass.
Despite these limitations in features and browser compatibility, Microsoft Authenticator remains useful, especially for users seeking a free solution. It allows you to import passwords from a variety of services, including Google, Firefox, Apple iCloud, 1Password, Dashlane, NordPass, LastPass, Bitwarden, and RoboForm, making it a versatile option for basic password management needs.

1Password
1Password is a highly trusted password manager that ensures your login information remains private and secure. While it doesn’t offer a free version, you can use a 30-day trial to explore its features before committing to a subscription.
An individual subscription includes 1GB of document storage, optional two-factor authentication, and advanced security features. One standout feature is Travel Mode, which allows you to temporarily remove sensitive data from your device when traveling, ensuring it’s protected from potential border checks. Once you’re back, you can quickly restore your data with a single click.
You can use Touch ID to quickly unlock 1Password on Mac devices, while Face ID is available on iOS devices for added convenience.
Additionally, Watchtower is a built-in feature that alerts you if any of your accounts may have been compromised (based on known breaches), if you have weak or reused passwords, or if your passwords have been exposed in any way. This proactive security tool helps you avoid threats and maintain strong, unique passwords across your accounts.
