Trinity College’s Reunion Weekend celebration June 9–12 was marked with multiple milestones. Among the many highlights, members of the Class of 2020 returned for their long-awaited, in-person Commencement ceremony, which had been delayed due to the pandemic. Additionally, due in part to the collective generosity and efforts of returning alumni, Trinity surpassed the halfway mark of an overall $500 million fundraising campaign goal.

Trinity College recently announced that Rabbi Rachel Putterman will join the college August 1 as associate chaplain and director of Trinity Hillel. She will take over from Lisa Kassow, who will retire at the end of June after serving as Hillel director since 2001.

“Success belongs to us because when it mattered most, we did it as a community,” class speaker Matthew Rivera ’20 said to fellow members of the Trinity College Class of 2020 during their long-awaited Commencement, held two years after the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted their senior year.

Two years after the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted their senior year, alumni from the Class of 2020 will return to campus on Saturday, June 11, for a long-awaited celebration of their graduation. Actor and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Will McCormack ’96 is the featured speaker.

Trinity College has renamed the recently renovated building previously known as Vernon Social in honor of Cornelia “Cornie” Parsons Thornburgh ’80, H’22, longtime volunteer and stalwart supporter of the college.

Trinity College alumnus Stanislav Knezevic ’21 was awarded a Yenching Scholarship from the Yenching Academy of Peking University in China. Knezevic will pursue an interdisciplinary master’s degree in China Studies.

Trinity College faculty and staff members who retired in 2020, 2021, and 2022 were honored at a luncheon on the Jacobs Life Sciences Center Quad.

Francisco Goldman, Allan K. Smith Professor of English Language and Literature, has received accolades this spring for his semi-autobiographical novel, Monkey Boy, including having been named a 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist.

Trinity College recently hosted a delegation of government and university officials from Germany as part of a celebration recognizing 30 years of the Baden-Württemberg–Connecticut Partnership.

More than 520 members of the Trinity College Class of 2022 received their degrees on May 22. “May your journey be long and purposeful, and may each of you leave an indelible mark on the sands of time,” Raja Changez Sultan ’72 said in his Commencement address.
