The Jones-Zimmermann Academic Mentoring Program has been a mainstay of Trinity’s community engagement since 2001. Supported by generous annual grants from the Marie and John Zimmermann Fund, the program pairs Trinity students with middle school students from HMTCA for academic enrichment activities throughout the year.

Trinity College Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Religious Studies Timothy R. Landry has been selected for a Fulbright award to the Africa Regional Research Program to study magico-religious objects used in sorcery in the country of Bénin.

Trinity College’s newly enrolled Class of 2023, numbering 618 students, will bring exceptional academic strength and diversity to campus, including the largest-ever cohort of first-generation students. The yield rate for the class—the percentage of accepted students who choose to enroll—was up slightly to 31 percent, the highest in at least a decade.

Trinity College Hobart Professor of Classical Languages Gary Reger has been selected for a Fulbright award to Australia, where he will spend four months studying deserts at the University of Western Australia in Perth.

Teams representing seven countries gathered at Trinity to compete in the college’s 26th International Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest, which advances robot technology and knowledge by using robotics as an educational tool.

Startupbootcamp has announced the launch of its new MedTech Accelerator in Hartford, with Trinity College as one of its founding partners. The MedTech Accelerator has been established to attract new talent and technology to Hartford, and will provide entrepreneurs with the support, resources, and industry and investor connections they need to help grow their business. The program will include a special emphasis on digital health.

Trinity Alumna to Teach English in Thailand

On Saturday, May 4, 2019, the American Association of University Women’s Connecticut Chapter will host its sixth annual Tech Savvy Conference at Trinity. The conference is open to sixth- through ninth-grade girls who want to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), as well as their parents and educators.
