Trinity College Library Earns National Recognition for Inclusiveness
National magazine Insight Into Diversity recently recognized Trinity College Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) for making a difference with underrepresented groups.
The prestigious liberal arts institution is one of fewer than three dozen schools nationwide to be recognized with the 2025 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award.
“This recognition reflects our deepest values,” said Kristen Eshleman, vice president for LITS. “Libraries have always been spaces where many voices are represented and heard—where our collections reflect human diversity, and where knowledge is accessible to all.”
The acknowledgement recognizes academic libraries advancing programs and initiatives that support inclusive excellence and belonging in areas such as research, accessibility, community outreach, technology, exhibitions, and collections.
In an era in which libraries broadly have had to refine their services in the context of ever-evolving technology, the award spotlights the importance of ensuring the audience for changes is always intentionally inclusive.
“We know that many academic libraries are not always recognized for their dedication to diversity, inclusion, and access,” said Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of Insight Into Diversity magazine. “We are proud to honor these college and university libraries as role models for other institutions of higher education.”
