Most foreign nationals are required to have a tourist visa to enter Tanzania. Americans, Canadians, and most Europeans are required to have a visa to Tanzania. Your passport MUST have at least six months left before expiration with at least a couple of blank pages. Duteni Tours recommends you obtain your visa online before arrival (allowing 45-90 days for this process). Applying for your visa upon arrival at the airport is also possible. The cost is $100 USD per person, paid in cash for US citizens and $50 USD in cash per person for all others. If you have any questions about requirements for your country, we advise you to contact your respective embassy for current visa regulations before your trip.

Duteni Tours advises that you seek advice from your medical provider regarding any vaccinations required for travel. We recommend taking preventative medication for Malaria. A yellow fever vaccine is only required if you are entering Tanzania from a WHO (World Health Organization) designated Yellow Fever country. If you are entering from a yellow fever country, a yellow fever certificate will be required (you must have this certificate if you have taken the yellow fever vaccine). If you do not have a certificate or have not taken the vaccine, you can get the vaccine and stamp upon arrival at the airport. While it is not a requirement to enter Tanzania currently, Duteni Tours recommends asking your doctor whether you should get the COVID-19 vaccine prior to leaving your country.

  • Medicine/ Vaccinations: Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended. Depending on your medical history, your doctor may recommend additional vaccination. Please be sure to visit your doctor at least a month prior to your travel date.
  • We advise carrying over-the-counter medications, such as ibuprofen/acetaminophen/aspirin, allergy medicines, nasal sprays, probiotics, anti-nausea/ motion sickness medication, antacids, etc.
