Monday/Wednesday – 10:00-11:15am, Prof. Shunyuan Zhang (Meets Social Sciences and Global requirements)
Feminist and queer theory has influenced contemporary understandings of gender and sexuality globally. This course explores this body of theory specifically in relation to the processes and problematics of colonialism, postcolonialism, nationalism, and transnationalism. This is an interdisciplinary course that covers a broad range of theoretical and methodological approaches, including history, sociology, anthropology, and cultural studies. Readings will reflect a variety of critical perspectives and consider the intersection of gender and sexuality with race, class, nation-state, and transnational geopolitics.
Interested students should feel free to reach out for course syllabus ([email protected]).
